Obnoxious Wembley

I was watching the Tribute concert yesterday and there were a few things I
noticed that I never did before:

1) As John Deacon is introducing Metallica on stage, Roger Taylor make the
"get fucked" gesture with his arms. Does anyone know why or actually to who
he is doing this to? Does he have something against Metallica?

2) During Paradise City, Axl Rose mid-song points to somewhere in the
stadium and yells "shove it!" I definitely know this is not a line in the
song and it sounds a little far-fetched to be an ad-lib! Rumour has it that
he was in pointing to a banner with the words "Piss-off Axl". Can anyone
clarify this?

3) I am surprised at how many hecklers there were in the crowd that day.
There wasn't a quiet moment were someone wouldn't be yelling out obnoxious
remarks. Elizabeth Taylor copped it something silly, although she reacted
quite cleverly ("I'll get off in a minute - I have something to say!"). Even
Bowie got ridiculed as he said the Lord's Prayer.

Going back to the Wembley '86 gig, there were a few weirdos in that crowd
too. I specifically remember someone yelling "Wake me up before you go-go!"
all throughout the acoustic section of Queen's performance!

Anyone else notice similar audience behaviour during other concerts?

this part is true - on my VHS copy of the concert you can clearly see
a group of people in the crowd holding up a banner saying PISS OFF AXL.
They were protesting Guns N' Roses being at the Concert For Life,
especially the infamous song "One In A Million" on the recently released
_GN'R Lies_ , in which Axl made slurs against gays and other visible
minorities:

"Immigrants and faggots, they mean nothing to me
They come to this country and they do what they please
Like start a mini-Iran, or spread some f***ing disease..."

Needless to say, having a guy who wrote this trash be a participant
at a concert celebrating Freddie's life and giving some education and
attention about AIDS was certainly controversial, and some people wanted
to be vocal about it.

Did the UK get "Lies" a lot later than the US? I'm just asking, because
"Lies" was released in the US in 1988, and you said "recently released" as
if it had came out around the time of the concert, in 1992.

Surely, they were probably protesting something new from the "Use Your
Illusion" albums.

Oh, Axl Rose is a walking contradiction. He's vocally misogynist and
homophobic - but his on-stage performance style is straight out of Mercury
Moves For Dummies. He has actually referred to Elton John as an influence on
his piano songs - I don't know about Freddie.

I heard him say, in an interview, that Queen was one of his early influences
and that Night of the Opera was the first Album he bought for himself.

I remember watching the show on tv when it was happening and I really thought
the Lord's Prayer thing was a bit much. David Bowie is so dramatic......he
looked stupid. Not so much the prayer but the dropping down and bowing his
head......made me uncomfortable for him. jmo

I was there and agree with this. Most of the people in the crowd around
me looked very uncomfortable at that point.

I was there, and had a different take on it. It went very quiet, andI took
a look around, and most people had there head bowed outta respect.

nobody would notice ....

If that was the case, I don't think they would have been invited to play.
